Lost & Found and a Goal Completed

The library is a part of our summer fun. This often includes attending the Thursday family programs. Today's family program was called Backyard Safari. It was filled with bugs, including a millipede, hissing cockroach and walking sticks. Even the Terminix guy was there with termites and other icky six legged critters. Needless to say we viewed these attractions a few feet from the tables. The kids also made a great walking stick craft (using a stick, four chenille wires and two wiggly eyes). I ran into a friend there and we decided to file that craft in our mind as a good one for kids.

The rest of the summer fun at the library includes checking out books and reading them. The checked out books come home and are put in the library basket, unless the girls are reading them, then they are by the kids' beds. Well, needless to say I thought this was a full proof plan to keep from loosing a book. That was until this book came into our home:
Yes, it's title is Messy Bessey. I thought that appropriate once it went missing. We looked high, we looked low, we looked under, we looked between, we looked in cars, we looked in bags, we looked in cupboards (even the bathrooms), we looked in hampers, we looked in drawers and more. It was nowhere to be found! Ugh. We looked, the library searched. It wasn't found. So we paid $12 to replace the book. This all began in April. Then last night, my husband pulled out our college year book. He occasionally refers to it when he gets friend requests on Facebook. As he opened it to look up a former classmate, lo and behold, what was in the book? Messy Bessey's School Desk! How fitting. I took it with me to the library today and was told I get to keep the book as the library had already replaced it. Oh joy. For whatever reason, I am not real excited to have this new $12 book in our collection.

On a fun note, the kids finished the reading program a couple weeks ago. We finally got there today to pick up their prizes. They got restaurant coupons, fair admission, little toys (soon to be lost) and a new book each (Messy Bessey not included). They did a great job reading finishing their goal of thirty days, twenty minutes a day. My girls LOVE to read. The kids were excited to have there picture taken with the library mascot "Booker Bee", as well.

2 more day and the boys will be done. They aren't feeling it so much this year. Fred did want to go to the thing tonight, but I wimped out. I was afraid it would be to crowded.

i need to find a better system with library books. we always seem to misplace one for a time and have to pay late fees - UGH!

yeah for the girls finishing the program - they had some fun free coupons this year.

It sounds like the library has a great reading program for your girls. I really like the story time they do for the two and under group as well.

Ohmygoodness! That is exactly the kind of thing that happens to us - and we don't have kids!! It's amazing how items can sometimes just disappear.
